Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board was established in September 1970 andhas been implementing various Housing, Slum Development andRehabilitation and Resettlement programs to ameliorate the livingconditions of the slum families in Tamil Nadu.The Board initially started its activities in Chennai and its activities weregradually extended to other urban areas of Tamil Nadu since 1984 onwardsin a phased manner.       The motto of Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board is “GOD WE SHALLSEE IN THE SMILE OF THE POOR“. The Board has been implementing various programs like In-situtenemental schemes, In-situ plotted and infrastructure development andRehabilitation and Resettlement schemes to improve the environs of theslums and the living standards of the urban slum families to achieve theSlum Free Cities Vision before 2023.The slum families are protected from calamities like fire, floods, etc. Each tenement built will have a multipurpose room, bedroom, kitchen, anthe independent toilet, with a water supply and sewerage arrangements.Paved access, street light, surface drain are provided.These tenements are allotted to the slum families on a heavily subsidizedhire purchase system, at the rate of Rs.250/- per month for a period of 20years.The slums located in unobjectionable areas, wherein the equitable distributionof space to all is not feasible, are cleared and tenemental schemes put up.GPMS- Tamilnadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) can gain complete control on the execution of government policies in a perfect manner, they can access information in real-time schemes, projects, budgets spend, works status live on their mobile app or on laptops and tablets, etc.
